1961-1975
Founded in 1961 by engineer Eugenio Fumi in Orvieto, Italy, ITELCO began with radio transceivers for the Coast Guard. In 1968, the company won a major contract supplying 120 solid-state transmitters for Italy's Financial Police, establishing itself as a broadcast pioneer.
1975-1990s
When private radio launched in Italy in 1975, ITELCO transformed a 25-watt aircraft transceiver into a revolutionary 50-watt FM transmitter. Demand exploded. By the 1980s, ITELCO had expanded into television and pioneered water-cooled solid-state technology. By the 1990s, the company had become the world's 4th largest transmitter manufacturer, with global operations spanning from Miami to Australia.
2002-Today
ITELCO was among the first to embrace digital broadcasting, supplying Italy's RAI with digital transmitters in 2002. The company also expanded into military, aerospace, and scientific applications, diversifying beyond broadcast. Today, over 1,000 ITELCO's high power transmitters remain in daily operation worldwide — a testament to 60+ years of engineering excellence under the Dacta Broadcast company.
